Building around several Mythic pieces sounds tempting, but the material bill can change your plans fast. Under the Season 15 system described by players, converting one Ancestral Unique into a Mythic costs five Resplendent Sparks. The recycling method calls for three matching upgrades, so that's 15 Sparks before you get one piece without the crafted tag. If you're planning a shopping list of D4 items, consider which slot deserves that investment first. A theoretical 12-slot setup would take 180 Sparks, assuming every slot is suitable and the same costs apply throughout.

Why the Crafted Tag Matters

The Horadric Cube's upgrade recipe offers a direct route from an Ancestral Unique to a Mythic Unique. There's a catch, though: the upgraded item receives a crafted tag, and the described equipment rule permits only one Mythic with that tag at a time. That can make it difficult to assemble a build around several desired Mythic effects. It doesn't mean every Mythic is subject to the same restriction; the important detail is whether the particular item carries the tag. Check the item itself before spending more materials on another upgrade.

Using the Recycling Recipe

The reported method starts with three identical Ancestral copies of the item you want. Upgrade each one to Mythic, then put all three into the Cube and choose Recycle Uniques. The recipe consumes those items and produces a fresh copy of the same Mythic. According to the described interaction, that replacement doesn't carry the crafted tag, so it can be worn alongside a tagged Mythic. Repeat the process for another item if your build needs it. Before committing valuable gear, check the current recipe and test the result with a piece you can afford to lose; seasonal rules may change.

Costs and Stat Risks

Here's the comparison that matters: one Mythic upgrade costs 5 Sparks and is described as preserving the original affixes and values; one recycled piece requires three upgraded copies, costs 15 Sparks in upgrade materials, and receives new random rolls. Those new rolls could be worse than the stats on any of the three items you gave up. There's no promise that a favourite affix value will survive. Keep your strongest copy in your stash or on your character, and use spare pieces for the recipe instead. It's a steep price for an uncertain result.

Planning Your Next Upgrade

Start with the slot that would make the biggest difference to how your character plays, rather than trying to replace everything at once. Players looking for materials may spend time on high-level seasonal activities or pursue the Echo of Mephisto with Crux of the False Prophet keys, though rewards and requirements should be checked in game. Set aside resources for ordinary upgrades, too. Having Diablo 4 Gold available for other build expenses won't replace the Sparks or matching items this recipe needs. Take it one piece at a time, and make sure the trade is worth it for your build.
